Why this site?

Information to make life clearer and easier for older people is out there, but getting it is a slow process. And it can be confusing. After many hours combing the internet to find out about stairlifts, or attendance allowance, or travel insurance for the over 60s, Geraldine and Sylvia realised they were not alone.
And that there is no other website in existence that collects a great deal of the information that people need, and presents it in a clear and simple form.

AgeAdvisor is run by real people for real people.

It's a website for everyone facing the challenges and opportunities of their older age.
We give you the support and information you need to cope with the demands of ageing, bereavement, illness and financial planning, but also to set up an old age that is fulfilling, comfortable, healthy and full of life.

AgeAdvisor is for senior citizens and their families who are planning for the future and anyone who is thinking about the rest of their life.
It deals with the serious stuff: inheritance, property, care homes, retirement property, pensions
... And the fun stuff too - entertaining, looking good, travelling, reading.

AgeAdvisor does not try to sell you an equity release plan, or a retirement home, or indeed a room in a care home. It does what it says on the tin – looks at all the options and you can take it from there...
If we don't know about a subject, we will ask experts who do. If we hear about something interesting, we will put it on the site, with  links to other sites, for those who want to find out more.

And, very importantly, we want to hear from you.

Please head to our Forum to share your experiences, good and bad. We would like information, anecdotes, good (and bad) experiences, jokes and advice. We welcome tips that are a godsend but not generally broadcast, your opinions about the cruise, the retirement flat, the shoes, the garden rake you chose. Have you got what you thought you were getting?  Does it do what you bought it for? Has the company done what it said it would?

If you are thinking about contributing, please read our submissions guidelines first to find out more about how you can do that.

We would also like to know what you would like us to find out for you – so please email us to tell us what you need, and we will do the best we can to help.
