Submission guidelines

We are delighted to invite you to submit your tips, experiences, news and opinions.

If you have comments about a care home, about a gadget, or feel strongly about something that should be improved, considered or discussed, this is the place to send it.

Please use our contact page to send us an email.

We would prefer submissions to be constructive, please, as there are other routes to use to complain about bad service etc, but if you genuinely think a negative comment would be useful to other readers, please send it to us. We do not wish to be anodyne or uncontroversial, just not a winge bucket!

We reserve the right to edit all submissions, and also not to publish them if they are in our opinion not suitable. The final decision is with us as the buck stops here!  All submissions must have a name and contact email and telephone number - if you would prefer us not to publish them, please say so.

We have a few requirements.

Include contact numbers or emails for anything you are recommending, if you can.

A photograph (jpg, small, for web) would be icing on the cake.

Submissions should be short (no longer than 300 words) and snappy.

We want to hear your opinion, but hard facts are also necessary: price, where to find it, what it actually does/what actually happened/why you like or dislike it.

Here is an example:

"Really useful potato peeler, which fitted in the hand very comfortably, and the blade was sharp enough to remove the peel at one stroke (available from John Lewis, £2.99)."

CARE HOMES
If you are sending information about a care home, this is how to set it out:
  • State the home's name, address, telephone number and web address, and your relationship to them – ie you live there, or a relative lives/lived there. Please send in only current information, ie not about somewhere you knew some years ago.
  • Give the name of the proprietor/manager.
  • Write a maximum of 200 words, excluding the above information. Say how you feel about the place – the atmosphere, little touches that you feel make it special, the gardens, the staff - not the number of residents it has, or facts that can be seen on their website.
  • Age Advisor will contact the home to check your relationship to them before posting it.
  • Age Advisor is not a guide to care homes – we want to promote positive, personal feedback. If you have important negative feedback you should send it to: the Care Quality Commission (CQC) or The National Care Association.

Send it in an email by using our contact page. Thank you, and we very much look forward to your comments.
